I don't venture east of IH35 often, here in Austin. Not like I'm avoiding it, but it seems "far." But Paco's Tacos is a reason to head to the other side of town. Honestly, it's just like three miles away, but that takes "like forever!"The story of Paco's starts in 1812, with a dramatic taco-lover-shot-in-the-leg-met-his-wife-and-opened-a-reastaruant story. I don't know if it's true, but it sounds cool.
This is a great place for Happy Meal and I. The menu doesn't look vegan friendly, but with a little tweaking, you too will love the one-legged taco man and his famous tacos. The Hatch Taco : skip the cheese, and you have a fantastic vegan taco, filled with black beans, Hatch chiles and guacamole. Or try the El Flaco Taco : skip the cheese and eggs, and you've got a spinach, onion, mushroom and tomato taco.
Happy Meal gets Paco's Pick, with steak or chicken. He tells me both are good. One day, I'll get him to order the Paco's Big Man Taco, so I can hear him say, "I'd like a big man." And I'll laugh.
With a shit-ton of fun salsas and creative taco choices, Paco's is great for the baby cow eater and the baby cow lover.
